Best Comparison for Teen Patti and Poker

poker vs teen patti

The traditional Indian game of Teen Patti is similar to Poker in many ways, but there are a few major differences that set them apart.

Rules

The biggest difference between Teen Patti and Poker is the set of rules that govern the game. In Teen Patti, each player is dealt 3 cards and the aim of the game is to have the best possible hand on the table. The rank of hands is fixed, with a ‘trail’ (three of a kind) or a ‘pure sequence’ (straight flush) being the highest ranked hands.

In Poker, each player is dealt 2 cards and 5 community cards are dealt face-up in the middle of the table. Players can combine any of their 2 hole cards with any of the 5 community cards to form the best possible 5 card hand. The rank of hands is not fixed, with a royal flush being the highest ranked hand.

Betting

The betting mechanics of Teen Patti and Poker are also quite different. In Teen Patti, the amount of money you can bet is limited to the amount you have in your pot at the start of the game. Players can’t increase the amount they are betting more than the pot.

In Poker, betting is done in rounds. Players can choose to raise, call or fold after each round of betting. There is no limit to how much a player can bet, meaning players can bet more than what they have in their pot.

Winning

The way to win Teen Patti and Poker are also quite different. In Teen Patti, the player with the best hand wins the pot. The pot is split among the players who have the best hands if there are multiple players with the same hand.

In Poker, the winner of the pot is determined by the showdown. All players reveal their hands and the player with the best hand wins the pot. The pot is also split among the players who tie for the best hand.

These are some of the major differences between Teen Patti and Poker. While the games share some similar aspects, the differences in their rules, betting mechanics and method of determining the winner make for a unique and exciting gaming experience.
